The Romanian culture wears the seal of Rome (Nicolae Iorga). The religion, the people’s tradition, the spoken language, the menthality of the population, all have a Latin origin. To be more specific, they have Roman influence. It is also possible that this status of bordering province induced the perfect preservation of the Latin spiritual profile.

Another cause of the Latin elements perfect preservation is the fact that the Romanian society – from the baginnings – was mainly rural, not urban. The coservatism is a specific of a rural society, while the dynamism is a feature of the cities.

We shall notice that in Transylvannia the Occidental influences – German, Italian and French are more obvious. To the south and east of the Carpathians a stronger Oriental influence was felt especially in the religion, laws, painting and in a certain way in the architecture and music. In time, especially to the end of the 18th century, the Occidental influence, especially the French, Italian and German was also felt here, competing with the Oriental one.
